The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a global situation report on the cholera outbreak, stating that from January 1 to May 25, 2025, there were a total of 211,678 cases and 2,754 deaths in 26 countries across three WHO regions, with Africa reporting the highest number of cases. The outbreak reflects the global public health challenge and the need for improved health system preparedness, disease surveillance, and access to vaccines and medicines to prevent and control the spread of emerging and re-emerging diseases.
